First Swaminarayan Temple

The first swaminarayan temple of the world was founded by Swaminarayan himself and then gave responsibility Ananandanand Swami to assemble the temple in 1822. And yes it is placed in our own city of Ahmedabad.

Located in the eastern part of the old city, Kalupur Swaminarayan temple is considered as prominent temple for huge number of devotees from over the world. The temple is engraved in Burmese teak where every arch and brackets are painted with bright colors that define uniqueness of the auspicious Swaminarayan temple.

The door of this momentous temple opens in the early morning at six for its regular devotees travelling from different corners of the city. Also Swaminarayan temple is a starting point for amazing heritage walk that takes you to the rich culture of the city through the pols.

The colorful temple is a room to several idols by Swaminarayan himself and also displays its personal sculptures. In the adjoining haveli, there are quarters for its devotees and a part has been constructed for conducting religious ceremonies and cores.
