We all might have heard about or visited Bhadra kali temple, but few of us would be aware about the fort behind the temple. Bhadra Fort was built in 1411A.D by Sultan Ahmad Shah, the founder of Ahmedabad. Bhadra fort is located in the walled city of Ahmedabad.

The fort is constructed with deep red stones and is divided into a stunning palace and lush garden. Bhadra fort has been named after the Hindu Goddess Bhadra Kali, whose temple is also placed in the vicinity. The temple is considered as very sacred amongst the people of Ahmedabad.

There’s a myth with Bhadra fort, that Hindu Goddess Lakshmi had once visited the fort and blessed the Sultan Ahmad Shah that the city will always be wealthy and prosperous.

These days, Bhadra fort is under renovation through AMC (Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation) and ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) as a culture centre of the city.
